Plan Your October Vermont Trip for Vermont Open Studio Weekend

Plan Your October Vermont Trip for Vermont Open Studio Weekend

Are you planning a fall trip for leaf-peeping in Vermont? Vermont Open Studio weekend is coming up on Oct 4 & 5, and over 100 artists all across Vermont open up their studios to show visitors how we do what we do.

In my town alone, five of us are participating, so you can see my whimsical furniture art and two brand new art collections (pics below!), plus my friend Shannon's pysanky eggs, Rosemary's metalwork, Kate's fine oil painting, and Rosamond's great photography. What a selection!  And our town is right off I-91, and very close to I-89, so if you're heading north in Vermont this fall, it's an easy weekend stop.

Lisa Johnson of Lisa Johnson Arts with a hand-painted vintage dresser at home studio that will be open for Vermont Open Studio weekend Oct 4 & 5, 2025

The Open Studio weekend runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct 4 & 5, and 10-5 both days, so it's super easy to tour our shops and studios, ask questions, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how we do what we do.

Each of us is holding a raffle, too, so when you stop at each of our studios, you can enter the raffle for that studio. Pick up a Norwich Studio Quest card, tour all five studios in our town, and you'll get five bonus entries!

The real focus, though, is the backstage pass of being invited right into our studios, being able to ask your questions, and enjoying it all against a backdrop of a beautiful Vermont fall weekend.

Each studio will have opportunities to participate with a hands-on activity for those who wish.

At Lisa Johnson Arts, I'll give you a chance to touch / play with / experience the clay-based paints I use on all my furniture. These porcelain clay paints are an entirely different experience from watercolors, acrylics, latex, and oils, so if you enjoy painting, trying them is a fun surprise.

You are invited to ask artists like Lisa Johnson of Lisa Johnson Arts questions and tour their studios in Norwich and statewide through Vermont during Vermont Open Studio weekend Oct 4 & 5, 2025

My raffle prize will be winner's choice between a painting and a gift basket of paints.

New Collection - GrowBoxes

That weekend I'm also unveiling a new collection of fun garden art, featuring a great gift for gardeners ~ a GrowBox.

Vermont Open Studio weekend runs Sat and Sun Oct 4 & 5, from 10am to 5pm both days. Lisa will be releasing a new collection of garden art, a GrowBox, to keep your garden gloves & tools in your garden

A GrowBox is a mailbox I hand-paint for you, that you keep in your garden area, and in it you store your clippers, your garden gloves, your seed packets ~ anything small you need in the garden and want to keep right out there where you need it.

I've had one in my garden for ten years, and I love it! The same way a mailbox keeps the mail dry, the GrowBox keeps your gloves dry and ready for use. No more forgetting where you put your snips!

Plus, they add a fun burst of color to your garden at all seasons of the year. It's a great way to upcycle the small mailboxes that are quickly being dumped for larger ones, because people need room for their packages from online orders. I'm creating them with different color palettes, to match different gardeners' tastes.

They will become available for purchase starting Oct 4 at 10am, through in-person sales only, and I'll have them til they run out.

New Collection - Paintings

I'm also unleashing a new collection of watercolor cards.

Perfect for birthdays, winter holidays, weddings, and hostess gifts, card subjects range from jam jars to hearts to candles, all on high-quality watercolor paper cards.

I can't wait to meet you and introduce you to my local artist friends ~ see you soon on the Open Studio Tour!
